Part of the record is co-produced by the tag team of Adam Schlesinger (of Fountains of Wayne) and Eli Janney (of Girls Against Boys), and part of the record will be produced by Ric Ocasek (of The Cars). Guest vocals on the album include Max Bemis of Say Anything, Rachel Minton of Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer and Shawn Harris of The Matches. The band did their final recording and mixing during early Spring 2007 in New York.

The band has been producing webisodes on the making of the album. These webisodes can be viewed at the website http://evenifitkillsme.tv.

The first single off the album, "Broken Heart", was released worldwide through all digital outlets on June 26. A video for the single is available to watch at their official website or on their street team website.

The second single, "This Is for Real", was released on August 7, 2007 in the US and on September 3 in the UK. The band shot a video for "This Is for Real" in Southern California in August 2007, which premiered on mtvU.com on September 10.

A low-quality version of the CD was leaked onto file-sharing websites on September 11, 2007, ripped from the web stream available from MTV's The Leak. Don’t You Fake It - Deluxe Edition

The band, comprising Duke Kitchens, Elias Reidy, Joey Westwood, Jon Wilkes and Ronnie Winter, insists that its organic fan base blossomed through word of mouth and video channel exposure, a combination that proved to be successful on both the stage and the charts.

Don’t You Fake It, produced by David Bendeth, entered the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 25 in July 2006. Four months later, the band’s Virgin Records debut was certified gold by the RIAA.

“Face Down,” the band’s gripping hit single, gravely documents issues of domestic abuse fueled with passionate lyrics.

“That was a song personally inspired by Ronnie’s own experience with domestic violence,” said Reidy in a recent interview. “Every concept of every song is a true event that has happened to Ronnie himself, one of us, or somebody we know.”

On Feb. 1, 2007, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will headline the sixth annual “Take Action!” tour, a two-month trek focusing on suicide prevention through awareness campaigns and partnerships with anti-suicide organizations.

It’s clear this quintet is musically talented and dedicated to issue-raising tracks — the only unclear bit is the red colored apparatus, formerly known as a jumpsuit.
