Iron Maiden - Somewhere Back In Time - The Best of: 1980 - 1989

“Somewhere Back In Time - The Best of: 1980 - 1989” is a compilation by Iron Maiden, which consist of songs from their first 7 albums. it’s a good start-off if you’re new to this particular British heavy metal band.

I began to listen to them which was also one of their compilation album called, “Edward the Great“. ‘The Trooper’ is an awesome song, followed by ‘Run to the Hills‘ and ‘Phantom of the Opera‘.

Children of Bodom - Blooddrunk

Blooddrunk is the sixth studio album by Finnish metal band Children of Bodom. The album contains nine original songs, including a re-recorded version of "Tie My Rope". Various editions will feature one or two cover songs as bonus tracks. Limited edition digipak version of the album includes a bonus DVD with 5.1 surround mixes of all songs and the video and making-of for "Bloodrunk".

Alexi Laiho has stated he has been feeling very aggressive while writing the songs, and that they will be faster and "thrashier" than the songs displayed on their latest release, Are You Dead Yet?. He notified fans, however, that certain parts of the album will be more progressive.[1] The lyrics will cover similar territory as previous releases. The Lyrics to "Blooddrunk" and "Tie My Rope" can be found on the band's official website. Roope played the solos on "Done with Everything, Die for Nothing," and "Banned from Heaven."

The first single was the title track, which was released in Finland on February 27, 2008, and features the cover song "Lookin' Out My Back Door" as a b-side. The videos for "Blooddrunk" and "Hellhounds on My Trail" were shot in Berlin, Germany in December 2007.

Mudvayne - By the People, for the People

By the People, for the People is the second compilation album, and fifth album release by Mudvayne. It was released on November 27, 2007 by Epic Records. The album features a track listing chosen entirely by the band's fans, with the band determining which version appears on the record (e.g. live, demo, acoustic), as well as two new songs, "Dull Boy" and a cover of The Police's song "King of Pain" (both produced by Dave Fortman). Initially, if the album was pre-ordered through the Sony Music Store, it was packaged with a free lithograph of the lyrics to "Dull Boy", signed and numbered by Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray.

By the People, For the People is presented in a format where each song is introduced through a short interlude generally no longer than 30 seconds long, where Chad Gray debriefs the listener on surrounding facts such as where the song was recorded or performed live, or distinguishing a demo from an album version (obviously limited to in the case of demos).

The album debuted at number 51 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 22,000 copies in its first week.

The Lost Tracks Of Danzig

The Lost Tracks of Danzig is a compilation album by American heavy metal band Danzig. The set showcases a number of previously-unreleased Danzig songs, ranging from the band's first sessions in 1987-88 until the sessions for Danzig's most recent studio album, Circle of Snakes. After years of frontman Glenn Danzig discussing plans for the album, it was finally confirmed to be under preparation in the summer of 2006. Originally scheduled for release on May 29, 2007, it was delayed twice before its official release in North America on July 10, 2007, and in Europe one week earlier. The set was made available over iTunes in June 2007.

Danzig mentioned this compilation in several interviews as early 1999. Due to his touring schedule and various other projects, The Lost Tracks of Danzig was set aside for a number of years before finally being completed in 2007.

Danzig has said that he does not consider these songs throwaways, but that often the case was that the songs didn't fit the theme or concept of the album. "The songs that make it onto the final album 'fit' or 'flow' together as a whole. Consequently, some tremendous Danzig songs have never been released, not because they weren't great, but because they didn't fit the overall vibe of the particular album, or for other reasons."

Animetal - Animetal Marathon V

Animetal (アニメタル Animetaru?) is a Japanese novelty heavy metal band who specialize in metal covers of the theme songs of classic and modern Japanese anime and tokusatsu television series.

They are comprised of several luminaries of the Japanese metal scene, most notably vocalist Eizo Sakamoto, who has been involved off and on with Anthem (one of the first heavy metal bands to achieve name recognition outside of Japan in the 1980s alongside Loudness)as well as participating in various other projects including the pop-rock group Nerima, the JAM Project, and a successful solo career where he also plays lead guitar as well as vocals.

Their music can be classified as high-energy melodic speed metal with a very high level of musical virtuosity, especially on the guitarists'(initially Shi-Ja for the first four albums, then Syu from Animetal Marathon V to the present) and bassist's (band constant Masaki) part. Masaki in particular from Animetal Marathon IV on onward has shown an intensely active and aggressive approach to his instrument with fluid soloing, manic slapping and popping, energetic fills, and crashing chords for punctuation. The albums are structured as nearly seamless barrages of short songs woven into well-structured medleys that sound as though the band simply enters the studio and lays down virtually the entire album from start to finish in one go, with occasional overdubs and breaks in the action here and there.

The lyrics are almost entirely in Japanese with occasional lines of "Engrish", which may partly account for why they are virtually unknown outside of Japan, aside from the fact they admittedly are playing to a very small niche market. For a short time, they incorporated Pink Lady vocalist Mie into the band, hence the name change to "Animetal Lady", and recorded two albums with her distinctive and melodic vocals that are much more commercially accessible (almost what one would call pop-metal) than the rest of the Animetal discography.

While they're known more for their covers, the band has a few original songs including the ballad Towa no Mirai from the Rurouni Kenshin soundtrack.

Black Sabbath - Master of Reality

Master of Reality is the third album by heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1971 (see 1971 in music).

On this album, guitarist Tony Iommi began de-tuning his guitar down three semi-tones (or one and a half steps, or C♯) to reduce tension in the strings, making it easier to play with his injured fingers. This led to a lower, sludgier sound that became the Master of Reality trademark.

The lyrical themes include: drugs, solitude, war and theology. "After Forever" is credited lyrically to Iommi (the only Sabbath lyrics solely credited to him thus far) and is heavily Christian-themed.

On the US version, certain songs had subtitles given to segments, making it appear that there were more songs on the album than there actually were, eg "Children of the Grave" having a subtitle of "The Haunting." This was common on the first two Black Sabbath albums also but, again, only on the American artwork.

This album is cited as an influence by many Stoner Metal and Sludge Metal artists.

In the UK the album reached #5. Initial pressings came in an embossed 'envelope sleeve', which contained a poster of the band and the generic Vertigo inner bag, although for this album the 'swirl' was white-on-black, rather than black-on-white. This was the first Black Sabbath sleeve on which the lyrics were reproduced, being on the rear of the sleeve.

On the Billboard Pop Albums chart, Master of Reality peaked at #8. In 2003, the album was ranked number 298 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time..

It was the third and final Black Sabbath album to be produced by Rodger Bain.

Many of the songs would be played on the The Reunion Tour (more than on the tour contemporary to the album).

Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the fifth studio album by the British hard rock/heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1973 (see 1973 in music). Sabbath expanded upon their slow, crunching style of music and added synthesizers and orchestral arrangements.

After the recording of their previous album, Black Sabbath, Vol. 4, the band hit a dry spell and could not come up with any songs for their new album. After locking themselves away to focus and come up with new ideas, guitarist Tony Iommi stumbled upon the riff to the title track, which has been called "the riff that saved Black Sabbath." After this song was completed, the others flowed freely.

A big difference between Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and its predecessors is the songwriting style. The album begins with the heavy riff of “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and ends with the string-laden, “Spiral Architect”. Some fans felt the new style signaled the beginning of the end for the band while others felt that Black Sabbath were simply expanding their sound which had been relatively unchanged through their first 4 albums.Rick Wakeman of Yes fame guested on "Sabbra Cadabra". Other keyboards and synths were played by the band.

Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy

Technical Ecstasy is a 1976 album from heavy metal band Black Sabbath.

Technical Ecstasy continued the band's separation from its signature doom and darkness that had been such a trademark of the band's early career. While the album's lyrics dealt with topics such as drug dealers, prostitution, and transvestites, the music itself was seldom dark, and tracks like "Rock 'n' Roll Doctor" and "It's Alright" (sung by drummer Bill Ward—a decision supported by Ozzy Osbourne), were very different from Black Sabbath's earlier recordings. Also, the band continued experimenting with keyboards and synthesizers moreso than previous albums. The track "She's Gone" features orchestrations.

Osbourne left the band briefly following the release of the album. He would eventually rejoin for the follow-up album, Never Say Die!.

The cover art is designed by Hipgnosis and is meant to represent two robots having sex. Osbourne once described it as "two robots screwing on an escalator."

The UK release had a two-sided lyric/credit-insert.

"Gypsy", "Dirty Women", "Rock 'n' Roll Doctor" and (briefly) "All Moving Parts (Stand Still)" were played live on the supporting tour.

"It's Alright" was often covered live by Guns N' Roses, and included in that band's Live Era: '87–'93 album. Due to GnR's enormous popularity at the time, and due to Technical EcstasyAxl Rose himself, a very worthy one. being one of the less-well-known and less-well-regarded Sabbath albums, GnR's cover is probably better known than the original. Nonetheless, the original remains a very different song than is typical of Black Sabbath, and in the eyes of many fans, including

"It's awesome to think that some of you guys weren't even born when we recorded 'Master Of Puppets'!" laughed Lars. "When we started thinking about Kerrang! honoring 'Master of Puppets' with this tribute album, and saw the artwork and the line-up of bands we realized it was a big deal. We're honored that it's a record that's perceived as a milestone and a record that's been so inspiring to so many people, both fans and young bands like TRIVIUM and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE. We're as excited to hear this as you guys are!"

Animetal Marathon

(アニメタル Animetaru?) is a Japanese novelty heavy metal band who specialize in metal covers of the theme songs of classic and modern Japanese anime and tokusatsu television series.
